A Democrat super-PAC is airing ads during the Republican National Convention featuring Michael Cohen, once a personal lawyer to President Donald Trump and now a Resistance darling eager to slate his former boss.
Trump “can’t be trusted” and Americans “shouldn’t believe a word he utters,” Cohen tells in a short video clip that appeared Monday evening.
— Breaking911 (@Breaking911) August 24, 2020
“Virtually everyone who worked for his campaign has been convicted of a crime or is under indictment,” he says. “Myself included.”
As he says that, the images of General Michael Flynn – Trump’s first national security adviser – and ex-strategist Steve Bannon flash on the screen. Bannon is currently under investigation for alleged embezzlement of funds in a private border wall scheme Trump denounced, while Flynn is still being dragged through the courts despite overwhelming evidence the FBI had framed him for a nonexistent crime.
In a puff piece on the ad blitz, CNN reporter Dan Merica noted that Cohen is “aware that most Democrats [sic] find him contemptible and untrustworthy.”
Cohen, aware that most Democrats find him contemptible and untrustworthy, ends the video with an ask to those skeptics: “You don’t have to like me. But please, listen to me.”
— Dan Merica (@merica) August 24, 2020
The ads seem targeted at Republicans, however, amid a major push by Democrats to embrace almost any GOP defectors. They were produced by American Bridge, a PAC run by David Brock, the notorious Democrat political operative with close ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton. They are intended to “get under Trump’s skin,” according to CNN.
Trump’s campaign doesn’t seem too concerned. “If you believe anything Michael Cohen says, I have a basement in Delaware to sell you,” campaign spokesman Matt Wolking said, referring to the preferred location of Democrat nominee Joe Biden.

Cohen ended up in special counsel Robert Mueller’s ‘Russiagate’ dragnet after accusations by porn actress Stormy Daniels that he personally paid her hush money to cover up an affair she allegedly had with Trump – which he denies – ahead of the 2016 election.
After the FBI raided his office and confiscated his files, Cohen made a plea deal and was sentenced in 2018 to three years in prison for tax evasion, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress. He has reinvented himself since as an anti-Trump activist, penning a memoir literally titled “Disloyal.”

One thing was clear after Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s hearing before Congress on Monday: the partisan brawls over the United States Postal Service—once among the less politicized agencies in the federal government—will almost certainly continue through Election Day. The five-hour hearing was punctuated by cringe-worthy moments as DeJoy, who appeared unprepared to answer Democrats’ basic questions about the agency he has led since mid-June, appeared squirm in his seat. Experts on the Postal Service say DeJoy’s wobbly testimony validates at least some of the concerns voiced in recent weeks by Congressional Democrats, who have launched multiple probes into the Postmaster General’s proposed cost-cutting measures at the USPS and the selection process that led to his appointment in May.

The Biden campaign is engaged in an early, behind-the-scenes to form a potential Cabinet to lead what the Democratic presidential nominee promises would be “the most progressive administration since FDR.”
Politico reported Biden would lean on his connections from the Obama administration. Among them would be “institutionalists who are palatable to centrist Democrats,” Politico said. But he is taking advice from the progressive wing of the party.
Names that come up are “moderates” such as Susan Rice, Obama’s national security adviser. But there’s also Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif.
Biden is taking economic advice from Warren, Politico sources said, and she is widely viewed as a potential Treasury secretary in a Biden administration.
In line with Warren, Biden has called corporate America “greedy as hell” and proposes raising the corporate tax rate.
This week, he promised to raise taxes on Americans making more than $400,000, saying they need to “pay their fair share.”
Politico said progressives have been “heartened by the composition of his transition team.”
It’s headed by former Sen. Ted Kaufman, a longtime Biden adviser and Biden’s successor in the Senate. It includes top Warren adviser Julie Siegel, and Gautam Raghavan, chief of staff to Rep. Pramila Jayapal, the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
A veteran Democratic strategist close to Biden’s transition team told Politico that if Warren wants a post, she is “definitely in the Cabinet.” In any case, she’s likely to influence Biden’s thinking.
Others mentioned include Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, a likely candidate for transportation or Housing and Urban Development.
Bass — who was a finalist for vice president before her fondness for Fidel Castro was spotlighted — could be secretary of HUD or Health and Human Services.
Buttigieg, a onetime presidential candidate, is seen as a likely choice for ambassador to the United Nations or secretary of Veterans Affairs.
At a campaign event in April, Biden said his job is “to bring the Mayor Petes of the world into this administration … and even if they don’t come in, their ideas come into this administration.”
Larry Cohen, who chairs the Bernie Sanders-aligned group Our Revolution, said the inclusion of progressives on Biden’s transition team is “the reason I’m hopeful” about a Biden administration.
Robert Reich, the Clinton-era Labor secretary, said Biden has the opportunity to be “a transformative president.”
“It’s almost entirely a function of the times,” he said.

Pitiful attempt at a FalseFlag
A Waco, Texas, woman arrested last week and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated appears to have been motivated by the QAnon conspiracy theory President Donald Trump spoke positively of during a White House press conference Wednesday.
According to arrest affidavits first reported by the Waco Tribune-Herald, 30-year-old Cecilia Fulbright got behind the wheel of her car just after 9 a.m. Wednesday with the intent to “[save] a child” from “pedophiles.” Fulbright reportedly chased two strangers’ vehicles in an apparent attempt to hit them. According to a Waco police report, the first vehicle was a catering truck driven by a woman with her minor daughter in the passenger’s seat. They successfully evaded Fulbright before calling the police who, according to an incident report, were unable to locate Fulbright or her vehicle. Fulbright then targeted a second unrelated vehicle, a Dodge Caravan driven by a 19-year-old college student. Fulbright chased the student into a parking lot where she cornered and repeatedly rammed the Dodge Caravan.
Responding police officers reportedly found Fulbright “crying hysterically” and yelling that the driver of the vehicle she attacked “was a pedophile and had kidnapped a girl for human trafficking.” The arresting officer noted that Fulbright seemed “delusional”; her blood alcohol content was recorded as 0.21 percent—more than double the legal limit in Texas. Fulbright was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the latter of which is a second-degree felony in Texas and carries a term of 2 to 20 years. She was released on an $11,000 bond the day following her arrest.
